    Southwest Times Record - Thursday, March 2, 2006 8:38 AM CST, Laura Schmalz, 85, of Charleston died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, in Fort Smith. She was born Nov. 18, 1920, in Fort Smith to Henry Sharum and Laura Yutterman Sharum. A member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Schmalz; and her parents, Henry and Laura Sharum; and six brothers. Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Smith Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston with burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia and son-in-law, Archie Flynn of Russellville and Connie Schmalz of Charleston; two sons, William J. and daughter-in-law, Ruth Schmalz of Fort Smith and Jackie and daughter-in-law, Denise Schmalz of Charleston; one sister, Mary Bogner of Fort Smith; six grandchildren, Carl Flynn of Grove, Okla., Glynn Flynn of Prairie Grove, Duane Schmalz of Fort Smith, Elizabeth Pillstrom of Charleston, Jacklyn Schmalz of Charleston and Lyla Schmalz of Jonesboro; and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Carl and Glynn Flynn, Duane Schmalz, Stephen Haney and Dwight Pillstrom.
